Probably a yellow star-tulip (Calochortus sp.), in the leaf litter nearby.
Lupine (Lupinus sp.) was flowering through the wood-chip mulch at Woodland Hilltop Arbory on April 6, 2025, among low, leafy shrubs, on masticated ground. In the leaf litter nearby was a single yellow flower with hairy, cupped petals, probably a yellow star-tulip (Calochortus sp.).
How the thinned and mulched ground grows back is one of the things the Woodland Hilltop restoration follows in repeat photos. That spring, the chips were filling in with green.
