Close up, the flower spikes and silvery leaves.
A bush lupine at San Domingo Arbory was in full bloom on the afternoon of April 12: a broad, rounded shrub covered in spikes of purple and lavender flowers, standing in green grass at the edge of the woodland. From its shrubby habit and silvery leaves, it is probably silver bush lupine (Lupinus albifrons).
Lupine was out across the open ground at San Domingo in April 2025, from single shrubs like this one to patches of smaller spikes in the meadow grass and along the ranch tracks.
